Help with PRP files
Palace F.A.Q.s

This is your basics about your actual PRP file (your prop bag). There are a few major issues that concern your PRP file. First of all, if your PRP file were to crash, it could mess up your palace client. We don't want that ^.^ Now, if that should happen you do not need to delete all your palace files and redownload it, all you simply have to do is get a fresh PRP file.

Compression of your PRP File

Basically everything that you see on palace, is downloaded to your own computer. That is the only way you can see everyone's avatars and background pictures. Since everything you see is downloaded to your computer, your prop bag can get exceedinly high in megabytes, especially if you visit large palaces like Avatar Palace or Mount Olympus. Its important to compress your PRP file because if you let yours get to large it can crash.

Don't worry though - doing this doesn't delete any avs that you yourself have physically put into your prop bag, or any of the avs that you can see in there. This just gets rid of all the avs that you cannot see - the ones that make your prp file size so large.

To compress it make sure your NOT connected to any palace - if you are it will not work. Then, go to File and click on Compress Prop File. If you have never done this before, it might take a few minutes. Or it might seem like your palace froze - don't worry, its compressing.

You should compress your prop file every week - or preferably every day, at least thats what I do because I'm always at the Avatar Palace everyday.

Backing Up your Files

No matter how hard you try, getting a prp file error or your prp file crashing is pretty inevitable. So its always good to make backup files of your prp file(s).

Its very simple, its just like backing up any other type of files. Depending on what type of computer you are on of course. I deal with windows, and unfortunetly don't know anything about Mac's. Ok anyways, go to Start on your menu bar, and click on Find and click on Files or Folders (unless you already know where your Palace folder is - in which case open it).

Do a search for Palace.prp. After you locate the folder it is in, open it. You will see a number of files, but the ones that you want to backup are Palace.prp.

There are a number of different ways you can backup your files. Simply click on palace.prp and right click on it. Then click on copy. Then, perhaps create a folder on your desktop or somewhere else where you can get back to it. In that folder click on PASTE, not paste shortcut.

Or, simply right click on palace.prp, and click on copy and paste it into the same folder. It will paste named something like 'Copy of Palace.prp'. I'd suggest doing this every week if not every day, in case your prp decides to die. This way you won't loose as many avs :).

Multiple PRP's

Is your prp file growing too large for your computer to handle? You should start a new prop file ;) Its very simple.

It is very easy to have multiple prp files. Only, of course, only one at a time can be used. Make sure you download the empty prp file of mine, and save it to the folder with all of your other palace related files. Just make sure its in the same folder as palace.prp.

Download a fresh PRP file, you need winzip or something that unzips files for this.

Download

Now, unzip the file. Then, rename your current palace.prp to something else, it can be anything that you choose. Now, rename the file that was unzipped (it should unzip as palacefreshprp.prp) to palace.prp. Then, open your Palace. You should see nothing but the default avatars in your prop bag. When you want another prp file, just unzip the palacefreshprp.zip file again, and rename it to whatever you want. If you want another prp file, just rename the current palace.prp to somethine else, and rename the prp file that you would like to use, to palace.prp. I hope that wasn't too confusing for you all :P
